General Questions

HyperPlanner is a personal ops layer - a highly customizable productivity and planning tool that adapts to how you think. Unlike rigid productivity apps, HyperPlanner lets you choose your layout, theme, workflows, and rules. It's offline-first, privacy-respecting, and optionally AI-enhanced.

HyperPlanner offers a generous free tier that includes core features like Smart Capture, layout customization, themes, and local storage. Premium features like AI suggestions, multi-device sync, advanced automations, and the template marketplace require a paid subscription.

Demo mode gives you access to almost everything! You can test layouts, themes, Smart Capture, basic automations, and local storage. The only features locked in demo mode are: AI suggestions, advanced automations (webhooks, complex rules), template marketplace, and multi-device sync.

HyperPlanner works on all modern browsers: Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+, and Edge 90+. We recommend using the latest version of your preferred browser for the best experience. Mobile browsers on iOS and Android are also supported.

HyperPlanner is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your phone directly from your browser. It works offline and feels like a native app. Native iOS and Android apps are planned for the future.

Data & Privacy

By default, all your data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync. When sync is enabled, data is end-to-end encrypted before being transmitted.

Yes! HyperPlanner is offline-first. You can create tasks, modify your layout, change themes, and do everything else without an internet connection. When you come back online, changes will sync if you have sync enabled.

When using cloud sync, all data is end-to-end encrypted using AES-256. We use a zero-knowledge architecture - your encryption keys are derived from your password and never stored on our servers. This means even we can't read your data.

Absolutely not. We don't sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. Your tasks, events, and personal information are yours. Our business model is based on premium subscriptions, not data harvesting.

You can export all your data at any time from Settings > Data > Export. We support JSON (full export), ICS/iCal (calendar events), and CSV (for spreadsheets). Your data is yours, and you can take it with you anytime.

When you delete your account, all your data on our servers is permanently deleted within 30 days. Local data in your browser remains until you clear it manually. We recommend exporting your data before deleting your account.

Features & Usage

Smart Capture uses natural language parsing to extract information from a single line of text. Type something like "team sync tomorrow 10am @work !high #planning" and HyperPlanner automatically extracts the title, date/time, context, priority, and tags. See our Smart Capture Guide for details.

Yes! Go to Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts to view and customize all shortcuts. You can remap most shortcuts to your preference. Check our Keyboard Shortcuts page for the full list of available shortcuts.

Create an account and enable cloud sync in Settings > Sync. Once enabled, your data will automatically sync across all devices where you're logged in. Sync happens in real-time when online and queues changes when offline.

Automations are "when X happens, do Y" rules that you can create visually. For example: "When a task is tagged #meeting, automatically block 30 minutes on calendar" or "When priority is set to !high, move to @inbox". See our Automations Guide.

Yes! You can import events from Google Calendar using ICS export or set up two-way CalDAV sync. Go to Settings > Integrations > Google Calendar to connect your account. See our Integrations Guide for details.

In the Theme Lab, click Export to save your theme as a JSON file. You can share this file directly or post it to our community forum's Theme Showcase section. Others can import your theme using the Import button in Theme Lab.

AI Features

No! AI features are completely optional and disabled by default. HyperPlanner works perfectly without any AI. You can enable specific AI features individually in Settings > AI if you want them.

Available AI features include: Smart Suggestions (reschedule overdue tasks), Auto-Descriptions (expand short titles), and Insights (productivity patterns). All AI features require explicit opt-in and are transparent about what they do.

No. Your data is never used to train AI models. AI features process your data only when you use them, and the results are not stored or used for any other purpose. We're committed to your privacy.

Account & Billing

Click "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page and enter your email. You'll receive a link to reset your password. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder. Note: Password reset does not affect your locally stored data.

Yes, you can change your email in Settings > Account > Email. You'll need to verify your new email address before the change takes effect. Your old email will receive a notification about the change.

Go to Settings > Billing > Manage Subscription and click "Cancel Subscription". You'll keep access to premium features until the end of your billing period. You can resubscribe anytime without losing your data.

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for new subscriptions. If you're not satisfied within the first 14 days, contact support for a full refund. After 14 days, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Troubleshooting

Try these steps: 1) Clear your browser cache, 2) Disable browser extensions, 3) Reduce animation settings in HyperPlanner's preferences, 4) Archive old completed tasks, 5) Try a different browser. If issues persist, contact support.

First, check your internet connection. Then verify sync is enabled in Settings > Sync. Try signing out and back in. Check if there are any sync errors shown in Settings > Sync > Status. If problems continue, contact support with your sync status details.

If you have cloud sync enabled, your data should be safe and can be restored by signing in on any device. If you were using local storage only, data may be recoverable if you haven't cleared browser data. Contact support immediately - we'll do our best to help.

Check your locale settings in Settings > Preferences > Date Format. Smart Capture uses your locale to parse dates. You can also use explicit formats like "2025-01-15" which work regardless of locale. See the Smart Capture Guide for supported formats.
